Planted in 1865 it is a small dry grown gnarly old vineyard producing tiny quantities of intensely flavoured fruit. Hand harvested these gems are then given tender loving care in the winery. An exhilarating expression of the very best Barossa Shiraz can be and truly a world class wine
Tasting note
Sourced from some of the oldest vines in the Barossa planted in 1865. A gentle winemaking approach including basket pressing and hand plunging has contributed to its soft, supple and silky-smooth texture. Tremendous depth of fruit on the palate with dark plums, licorice and subtle coffee grinds evident. A mix of new and older oak has played a string supporting hand. The slightly chalky tannins are finely integrated to create a wine of great poise. Classic example of Barossa shiraz in a very good year.
