With our main vineyard and cellar located on the Glen Eldon property in Barossa, it was only fitting to honour this brand with the Glen Eldon Wines name. Our properties were first settled in the 1880’s by the Herbig family, who planted vines, fruit trees and ran cattle and sheep.
Glen Eldon Wines is committed to producing premium regional wines. We will continue to make small quantities of distinctive regional wine, utilizing the diversity of our vineyard plantings to highlight the micro environs of the Barossa. With this in mind we hope to see our wines on the best restaurant tables and only in the finest of wine retailers.
Our micro sites of soils and elevations allow to for fruit with different characteristics. Hand-made into separate small batch wines. Blended to make exceptional expressions of their variety, site and character
Planted in 1865 it is a small dry grown gnarly old vineyard producing tiny quantities of intensely flavoured fruit. Hand harvested these gems are then given tender loving care in the winery. An exhilarating expression of the very best Barossa Shiraz can be and truly a world class wine
Tasting note
This is sumptuous and powerfully expressed, showing blackberry, dark chocolate, baking spice, and toasty oak characters on the nose. The superbly weighted palate delivers outstanding depth and richness, wonderfully complemented by velvety texture and beautifully pitched tannins, finishing plush and gratifying. At its best: now to 2040.
